IKEA opens new design studio in Toronto’s mall next week

Everyone’s favorite flatbed furniture store is opening a brand new IKEA design studio in a popular Toronto mall next week.

The Design Studio – a small curated showroom where you can meet one-on-one with a consultant to design the space of your dreams – will open in downtown Scarborough on December 3.

It will be Toronto’s second design studio after the one opened earlier this year at Stackt Market. It won’t be the only new IKEA Design Studio to open at a GTA mall next week.

The Swedish furniture giant is planning another opening at Square One in Mississauga on December 1. The Mississauga store will offer all of the same consulting services as the Scarborough Town Center and Stackt locations, but will have a special deal to kick off its grand opening. For the month of December, all planning sessions are free, and members of the IKEA family will receive an instantly redeemable $ 100 gift card to use with any purchase over $ 2,000.

Design studios don’t have storage rooms like your typical IKEA. Instead, any furniture that buyers decide to purchase there will be shipped directly to their home or to a nearby pick-up point. According to the IKEA website, studios are by appointment only, with limited walk-in assistance available.

For Torontonians looking to get more of the full IKEA experience, a downtown Toronto store will open at 382 Yonge Street in early 2022. Although the store is smaller than your typical IKEA warehouse, it will feature more than 2,000 products. will be available for purchase in store.
