Fashion industry veteran creates dream à la carte fashion and design academy – enhances traditional learning
Apparel industry veteran Liza Deyrmenjian launched Cut Fashion Design Academy to overturn the traditional learning model in the fast-paced, tech-driven fashion industry.
Deyrmenjian explains, âOur model is clean in design, with no ‘filler’ lessons, because the goal is not to hold the student hostage for years, but to give them an education, taught by experts in the field. industry, which sets them up with an expert level package. skills that will enable them to achieve their dreams in a shorter period of time. “
TCFDA is the only accredited fashion and design academy in North America (and possibly the world) offering students a la carte options when it comes to their education. No more curtailed careers or dreams suspended by the obligation to register in one to three years of courses. Since launching in 2018, TCFDA has seen a 333% growth in enrollment and has alumni from Tentree, design firm Apparel Mark, Lululemon and Arc’teryx.
âThe traditional model fails students looking to learn a skill or build a career, tying their education to an outdated model that makes a prepackaged course load spanning multiple years come across as ideal. Our world is changing too fast to stress this point. a design student takes a 3-year course to learn 3D model making. What I have developed is an experiential educational model which is an ideal pair of choice and price, âexplains Deyrmenjian.
Director of Operations and Admissions Robbie Ragiste points out that âUnlike other educational institutions, The Cut serves the best interests of the student through experiential and kinesthetic learning. Our courses are offered in class with a maximum of 8 students per instructor, live online and recorded online – when we say international we really are. In addition, it is important to be able to offer installment payments, homestay options, and the ability to start with a certificate and progress to a degree. For those overseas visa-pending, the ability to study online and move to Vancouver anytime during their coursework. “
The Cut Fashion Design Academy is committed to inspiring, educating and creating true fashion and business professionals by promoting academic excellence through our rigorous programs and a distinctive learner-centered environment. Deyrmenjian and Ragiste are open to partnerships with public institutions and align TCFDA with a corporate partner to facilitate expansion in eastern Canada, ideally in Toronto.
Immediate plans for the growth of the program include the launch of four new Fashion, Graphics and Interior Design Certificates, which will be consistent with the brand, culture and educational experiences.
