Alvi advises fashion design institute to liaise with stakeholders – Newspaper

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Friday advised the leadership of the Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design (PIFD) to approach eminent personalities in the field of art and design to share their knowledge, experiences and learning with the institute students in order to add value to their learning trajectory.

The President was speaking at the 12th PIFD Senate Meeting, Lahore, in Aiwan-i-Sadr.

He said the institute should establish its rules and regulations, statutes and standard operating procedures on the basis of a timetable taking into account relevant government rules and regulations in addition to comparing best practices of similar reputable institutions. He said this will help to further strengthen and accelerate decision-making on academic, administrative and human resources matters, in addition to attracting and retaining highly qualified and experienced faculty.

The President advised the institute to forge close ties with relevant private sector stakeholders in the fields of fashion, textiles, jewellery, gemological sciences, furniture, leather design and ceramics and marketing in order to give its students first-hand exposure to strengths, weaknesses. , opportunities and threats in the relevant industry.

He said this would help equip them with knowledge and skills to bring quality and value to the products produced by the country.

He also encouraged the institute to consider opportunities for joint ventures and linkages with relevant industries and invoke their corporate social responsibility to seek their cooperation and input to further improve its services.
