The German government is in favor of keeping the money in cash

The German Economy Minister, Brigitte Zypries, today expressed support for maintaining the use of cash, against those who propose its abolition, and referred to a report of the advisory council of his portfolio, made up of 25 economists

The report, presented today at the Ministry’s headquarters, also criticizes the policy of zero interest of the European Central Bank (ECB), a point on which, however, Zypries did not speak, following the tradition of not commenting on the policy of that institution .

“The cash must continue to be an important means of payment and has its justification also in times of digitization,” said the minister.

As he explained, the independent advisory council defends “with convincing economic arguments the maintenance of cash money” and is an important contribution to the current discussions.

The report was presented today by the president of the aforementioned advisory council, Hans Gersbach, and by another of its members, the director, Martin Hellwig, professor at the University of Bonn, who coordinated the preparation of the document.

The two topics of the report, the debate on cash and the zero interest monetary policy of the ECB, were chosen as a reaction to the current debate and to experiments that are being carried out in various parts of the world with the reduction of payment possibilities in metal.

“In all parts of the world, high-denomination notes have been reduced and proposals are currently circulating to radically restrict the use of cash,” Gersbach recalled before summarizing the central arguments of the advocates of the abolition of cash.

In the first place, they point, technological progress would be stimulated and costs would be reduced; In addition, it would facilitate the fight against the underground economy and illegal businesses and, finally, would make possible a monetary policy with negative interests.

The advisory board considers the three problematic arguments and the last effect is not seen by economists as desirable.

Central banks, according to the report, would not save costs by abolishing cash.

“The issue of cash, with the exception of one cent, brings benefits to the ECB,” Hellwig said.

Image result for german moneyThe increased use of electronic payment possibilities, according to the report, should be left in the hands of market players and an intervention would only be justified if there were serious distortions, while abolishing cash to fight the shadow economy is “disproportionate” “, the economists point out.

Hellwig also expressed the suspicion that the current debate has been driven precisely by economists who want to increase the possibilities of influence of central banks and make easier the introduction of negative interests.

From this, in the final part of their report, economists warn of the dangers of a zero interest policy.

The interests zero, or close to zero, explain the economists, radically reduces the possibilities of profit of the financial institutions, which is especially serious if one takes into account the crisis that the banking sector has gone through.

“With interests close to zero, the very foundations of the financial system are being questioned,” Hellwig said.

His analysis maintains that the longer the zero interest policy lasts, the greater its risks and the more difficult it will be to put an end to it.

According to Hellwig, some problems are already evident as the existence of a real estate bubble or the fact that many people, faced with the possibility of investing their money in the traditional financial market, are resorting to dubious high risk bets.

Nobody has more money than you can imagine

“Nobody has more money than you can imagine”

Image result for money tappingTrainer of trainers in NLP, Ericksonian hypnosis and energy psychology, is a lover of tapping, a technique that was born in the United States in 1980 by Dr. Roger Callahan and that is based on the idea that behind any social, work, hardship, sexual, emotional, phobic … there is an imbalance that can disappear in a few hours. He is so convinced that on July 7 he has rented the Palau d’Esports de Badalona to make a mass, and almost free, call for a tapping course focused on money and work. He has treated politicians like Montilla, to elite athletes, entrepreneurs, and has trained thousands of people.

Any problem that a person has, whether health, economic or relationship, part of an energy imbalance.

And with a few taps the issue is solved?
It touches with its fingers certain points of the energy meridians of traditional Chinese medicine. With tapping we normalize the energy flow associated with that imbalance, and the problem is solved.

It seems too simple.
Tell me a problem

There is no work for so many people.
Three American universities spent five years studying the lives of the 34,987 people who touched the lotus in Florida, and discovered that people returned to the same economic level they had before the lottery touched them in about two years.

What is your explanation?
Each one has an energetic mental level regarding the money that is determined by the limiting beliefs, the learning and the secondary gains … As long as you do not change that energy level, it does not matter what luck you have, because you will always reach your economic level again. Nobody has more money than you can imagine.

That seems very logical.
If you have the limiting belief that rich people are despicable or unhappy, your unconscious will say: “Careful, do you want to be unhappy?”, And you will take your money off. Tapping manages to eliminate that limiting belief and for money or work to flow.

How does it work with emotional problems?
It was tested with Vietnam veterans with post-traumatic stress with excellent results and without any medication.

How are those beliefs changed?
Tapping part of the apparent problem, and the person’s mind is directing us to the root of the problem. Memories are coming, what we call threads.

Give me an example.
Let’s suppose that you were walking with your grandmother when you were little, you meet an illustrious couple and your grandmother comments: “How wonderful! A woman without a man next to her is nobody”. You do not give importance, but that comment enters your unconscious.

And years later …
Before being alone she will be with any imbecile, because in her subconscious it is written that a woman without a man next to her is incomplete; In your growing mind that will be inscribed or whatever you are told.

It is not about traumatic moments.
No, they are things that do not make sense, but that are installed in our belief base and manage our lives. The way we behave in any area of our life is governed by patterns that we have acquired in childhood. Tapping goes to that moment and changes them, making them useful patterns.

And how do you know which ones are useless?
If you have difficulties in a certain area of your life, it means that you are not using the right patterns. If, for example, people who smoke ask why they smoke, they say: “I like it, it relaxes me”.

That is your pattern with respect to tobacco.
Exact. If you ask him about the experience with his first cigarette, the thing changes: “It tastes bad, it makes me dizzy, I do not like it”. But once you’ve smoked a few cigarettes, since you insist, the brain decides to change the experience and turn the bad experience into a good one. What does the tapping do ?

…?
Let the tobacco know again to snuff, smell snuff and dizzy, it’s that simple. It is very easy to stop smoking.

What have you understood throughout your career?
That there are two states, can be right or wrong. If you get well, the rest of the things do not matter; tackling a problem while being well is not the same as tackling it while being wrong, and the result has nothing to do with it.

The changes are action.
Totally agree, you have to put yourself in the doing, but I do not need to get on the plane with a person and say “do not worry, I’m by your side” to take away the phobia of flying: I change that pattern, and climb alone and Enjoy the flight, because your perception has changed.

It has been proposed to do a massive act of tapping against the crisis.
Yes, because the only way I know of getting out of the crisis is for each one to come out of his personal crisis: the one who does not have work, who finds it; the one that does not sell, that sells.

It is a fish that bites its tail: if there is no money, no matter how great you are, no one hires you.
That is what the whole world is arguing about, reality, because everyone believes that reality creates thought, but as soon as we start to change our thinking, reality changes. In this crisis there are many people making money, do not forget it.

I see him very convinced.
I do it on a small scale with groups of one hundred people and it works. I’ve been giving courses to all kinds of people for 17 years, from politicians to businessmen. My idea for this call is to teach tapping focused on money and work, which is the germ of a change. It is not an experiment, there are thousands of documented cases of people who have changed their lives with tapping .

The luxury of living without money

The luxury of living without money

The Australian who, a year and a half ago, gave up smoking has shown that you can live without income, and well

A year and a half ago, Jo Nemeth gave his life a 180 degree turn: he decided to live without money and, therefore, without consumption , to reduce his ecological footprint (the impact that our actions have on the environment) and demonstrate This way, it is not only possible to stay without income, but also, not bad at all. “Sometimes they push me to come back to life with money, but I do not want to, I like to live like that,” says Nemeth.

In January 2015, the 47-year-old Australian said goodbye to her job as coordinator of a community development program. He left the flat he rented with his then partner and daughter, and moved to a friend’s farm. “I liked my job, it was only 20 hours a week and I received a good salary. Even so, I lived very overwhelmed, always ran from one place to another, I had trouble paying the bills of the house … this did not handle well and, in the end, it was a stress, “he explains.

In the decision to lead a simple life, we also weighed the environmental impact implied by all consumer-oriented activities: from the purchase of food and clothing, the transport of fuel or the use of non-renewable energy. “Anyway, my money was contributing to the destruction of the planet and to worsen not only the situation of the environment, but that of all the people who suffer at the expense of the huge amount of resources that the West demands to produce everything we consume. Every time I spent money I felt terrible, so I decided to stop doing it, “says Nemeth.

He founded a rule : he would not consume anything that was exclusively for his own benefit, but he would take advantage of those products that had already been acquired. She says to herself “food opportunist”. He eats what he grows on the farm, and what his neighbors and friends waste. “I’m not averse to anything. If they buy tea that they do not like later and throw it away, I take it and, thus, I make better use of a resource that has already been consumed. “

It is supplied with water from the rain and the river that it stores in a reservoir. It uses energy thanks to a portable solar panel that it acquired before the change and that goes with it to all parts. Although he enjoys a prepaid mobile line, which is run by a friend of his, he does not have access to the internet. He connects from the houses of his acquaintances and from there writes his blog jolowimpact.wordpress.com, in which he tells his experience and encourages others to reduce their environmental footprint.

To move, hitchhike . “The fuel that uses a car will spend it equally, so the environmental impact has already occurred,” explains Nemeth, adding: “Even many drivers are grateful to hitchhikers because they make them feel better by amortizing more fuel employee”. At the same time “it avoids the consumption that would involve using another motor vehicle, and that would have new ecological consequences,” he adds.

Some people have offered to pay for their plane tickets, but she rejected them because of the important carbon footprint of air transport. “Being an island, it is common to travel to Asia by yacht, and my intention is to get on one of those boats,” explains the Australian. However, it is faced with the obstacle of the necessary passports and visas to visit other countries that are paid.

Nemeth faces numerous criticisms that, above all, come from social networks . “They call me vague, and they say I should pay taxes. Sometimes I wonder if they will be right, but I think I’m just doing something positive for the environment. ” On the other hand, her acquaintances support her and, in many cases, offer her money and food. “Something very important that I have learned is how generous people are. Sometimes I have to refuse help, because I just do not need it, “he says.

Another important chapter is that of health . At 47 years of age, and after suffering from skin cancer, he needs to be alert in case any other problem arises. Although Social Security covers medical consultations, it excludes those of specialists. “In this last year and a half I have only gone to the doctor three times, and it has been free. In case I had to see a specialist, I probably have the help of my friends, but I would not like to depend on them, “says Nemeth.

Meanwhile, she enjoys her time . Every day, he spends a few minutes on earth, visits, reads, writes … “It’s a very easy life. I think that is how many would like to live, but they do not, because they believe that giving up money also means giving up comfort, and that is not the case, “he concludes.

The color of money

The color of money

Image result for moneyThe news – read on Wednesday in this newspaper – seems to me sensational: according to the union of technicians of the Ministry of Finance, five hundred euros bills represent seventy-five percent of the outstanding euros in Spain,
that is: three quarters of the total. Where are they? Who has them? Because in everyday life there are very few, if any. It is not black money: it is invisible.

They say that in the good times of the real estate bubble, more than half of the tickets of this type were circulating in Spain throughout Europe, but I did not see any until 2012, when all that fictitious prosperity was already history. The first ones were given to me in a notary’s office, five brand-new five hundred euros bills along with sixty or seventy euros more, to return the part that was left over from the advance of real taxes that I had to pay.

I confess that in the first moment those bills made me feel complicit in a sympathetic crime, of those that we would all like to be able to commit from time to time. I went home and, since I did not think it wise to carry them in my wallet, I hid them in the pages of a hardcover edition of John Cheever’s complete stories. It was the place that seemed most suitable to me. If writing a book and publishing it has always been the best way to keep a secret in this country, a book could also be a good place to keep those five bills. In addition, it seemed a very fair homage to one of the best storytellers of the twentieth century, a writer who, without intending to, portrayed very well the value of money in American society.

Image result for moneyWhen I needed money and decided to take out one of those bills, I realized the problem that was before me. Where could I change it? It was not a matter of going for a beer and paying with a purple ticket. Since I had to buy some filing cabinets and the place that caught me closest was El Corte Inglés, it occurred to me that I could pay with one of them. Said and done. I went and when it was time to pay the employee she stared at the ticket, frowned and told me to wait a moment. I thought that I would go back to the security guard and that they would take me to an office where I would have to explain about the notary and who knows how many more things. But no. She returned with a gentleman who identified herself as a plant manager, gave me a slightly knowing smile and, without asking me anything, authorized her to accept the ticket.

After three weeks, I had to get the second ticket out of Cheever’s book. To avoid the El Corte Inglés scene, I decided to go to a branch of La Caixa near the house and ask to be changed. After ten minutes of queuing -in the banks, I do not know why, there are always more windows than employees-, the cashier put on a face I do not know if of disapproval, of envy or boredom, but he changed it without saying a word.

When I ran out of the ten fifty-dollar bills he gave me, I took two hundred euros from the cashier. He did not know why, but he did not want the Treasury to see that he spent so much time without taking money out of the bank account. I was pulling until it was time to get the third ticket. I was in Mallorca and went to a gas station to buy the newspaper, a loaf of bread and four cans of beer. The cashier, a South American woman, accepted it with all naturalness. She was obviously used to seeing tickets like that. I still wonder if it is because in the Balearic Islands more black money runs or because gas stations are particularly appropriate places to use these tickets.

I had to change the room after three weeks. I decided to go to my bank and enter it, along with the fifth. I did not understand how it had not occurred to me before. It was the simplest thing. What could I be reproached? They had been given to me in a notary, right? I made the corresponding queue and, when my turn came, the teller gave me a smile of approval so cloying that I swore to never accept any five hundred euro bill.

He did not know that he risked having to reject seventy-five percent of the money in circulation. Now they say they want to withdraw, and it seems logical to me. If they account for such a high percentage of the money in Spain and most mortals do not see any, it means that they do not circulate much or nothing. It can be imagined that some of their owners have not been completely honest with the
tax authorities. Removing them from the circulation is a very simple way to encourage them to get them out from under the mattress and explain how they won them. Do not we want to fight against tax evasion? Have we not decided that it is not right for some to pay taxes and others not? It is surprising that nobody has come up with this measure until now. Surprising and – if it is true that they represent seventy-five percent of the money in circulation – a little worrisome, really.

Brussels wants to turn plastic into money

New tax Brussels wants to turn plastic into money

  • By 2030, all plastic packaging in Europe will be reusable.
  • Currently, 60% of the EU’s annual 26 million tonnes of plastic waste land on landfills, incinerators or in the environment.

Image result for recycling moneyEurope started small. For the first Brussels households, it was sufficient to draw on revenue derived from the common policy, in particular customs duties, sugar levies and agricultural levies. But tariffs declined with the liberalization of world trade, and the financing needs of the Community grew. Therefore, other “traditional” own resources were added: in 1980 it was decided to transfer a (very small) share of the national VAT revenue to Brussels. He contributes about ten percent to the EU budget. The remainder, now more than three quarters, consists of national contributions based on a fixed percentage of a country’s gross national income.

By 2030, all plastic packaging in the EU should be recyclable

This should change in the period from 2021 to 2027. The EU does not just want to compensate for the loss caused by the Brexit. She wants to make the relationship between budget and EU policy clearer and to intervene more strongly in the budget. About environmental policy. The “basket” of new own resources, ie fresh money, therefore counts a plastic tax. The revenue would not be huge on a European scale, the Commission expects between four and eight billion euros per year. However, she sees it as an important building block in the recently announced plastic strategy aimed at reducing waste and promoting recycling. According to this, all plastic packaging in Europe should be recyclable by 2030. Currently, 60 percent of the EU’s annual 26 million tonnes of plastic waste land on landfills, in incinerators or in the environment, especially in the seas.

The EU wants to solve the problem of plastic waste, especially through more recycling. That alone will not be enough, my critic. By Janis Beenen and Silvia Liebrich more …

The Commission looks favorably on national plastic taxes, which have drastically reduced the consumption of plastic bags. However, this makes no sense at all across the EU like a tax on the production of plastic, which only penalizes industry. Therefore, the authority has opted for a tax, which starts with the amount of non-recycled plastic waste in the respective country, for example by bottles. Per kilo would be 80 cents due. Revenue remained relatively stable until 2027, according to the Commission. It expects a rising recycling rate (2030 it should be 55 percent), but also with even more plastic waste.

The Budget Commissioner wants EU-wide three percent of corporate income tax

Image result for recycling moneyIn a similar vein, the plan is to channel 20% of the revenue from emissions trading, which is currently booked nationally, into the EU budget. Depending on the price of the pollution rights could thus be achieved, according to Commission 1.2 to three billion euros. That would be a small, rather unstable source of income.

The third idea of Budget Commissioner Günther Oettinger would have a far greater effect: access to corporate taxation. Between four and 23 billion euros per year this would bring in the cash, depending on the amount of the call rate. The commissioner recommends three percent. A common corporate tax base has been under discussion since the 1990s and in 2016 the Commission made a proposal. If taxable profits were to be calculated everywhere according to uniform rules, tax avoidance and fraud would be better combated. The deliberations are clear, however, and countries like Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Ireland or Malta, which attract companies with tax advantages, are against it.

All in all, Oettinger wants to bring the EU budget in this way 22 billion euros, that would be twelve percent. That the plan is implemented in this way is not to be expected. This also applies to the plastic tax. Although she delights environmental politicians. Green boss Robert Habeck had demanded it again this week. But some experts doubt the ecological effectiveness and favor other measures. Not to mention basic criticism, as expressed by MEP Markus Ferber (CSU): “Member States are responsible for collecting taxes in the EU, and if we do not want to end up with a European super-state, we have to go here draw a clear red line. “

The Greens see in Oettinger’s submission a “step towards a future budget”, as MEP Helga Trüpel explained: “A self-confident European Union must not only be dependent on the payment behavior of its members.” If the EU only wanted, more sources of money could tap into. A report by experts led by Italian Mario Monti listed them in 2016: general carbon tax, gasoline tax, electricity tax, financial transaction or banking tax and a tax on central bank profits.
